I went on a little adventure this past Saturday with my Mum...we went to NYC! It was beautiful, crazy, crowded, overwhelming, and so much fun (I wouldn't have had it any other way ;)
I loved taking pictures of the Empire State Building from below with the pretty clouds above it...

We got to visit Purl Soho, which was a wonderful experience...so colorful and inspiring. I've been following their blog, 'Purl Bee' for quite some time and they always have great projects and tutorials, so check it out if you can.
All of the staff there were so helpful and it was so cozy. This was from part of the display in the front window, oooh ahhh (I took this while they spun my new yarn into a ball...happy face :)

I fell in love with this Gypsy Garden yarn in Kinari Bazzar (you can get your own on their website, but I swear the pictures don't do it any justice). I kept telling myself I didn't need it! But, alas, it is mine...

I snagged a pair of size 17 knitting needles too, and have already started a wee project...

Everything was so pretty from the ferry, all lit up at night...

And apparently our elf, Boots, took a reindeer ride while I was away, tee hee...

Have you ever been to New York City at Christmas time? Amazing I tell ya!
Mum said I had to ride the subway, just to have the experience! We did. It's just like our metro in D.C., but still seemed different somehow. And we took the ferry that passed the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island...absolutely beautiful.
We had these big plans of doing all the touristy stuff and can you believe I never made it past the Rockefellar center on 50th street!?! I'm okay with that though. We had such a good time, walking in circles for miles while trying to flag down flying cabs that were packed with drunk Santa Claus's because of the bar crawl that was going on (boy those Santa's were hilarious and very entertaining), eating at hole-in-the wall delicious italian restaurants and drinking good red wine!
My favorite part of the day though, was spending it with my Mum...sans kids. Not that I don't love my girlies to pieces, but spending alone time with my Mum is rare...and I'll cherish any that I can get, no matter where we are.
More pictures to share, coming soon. I hope you are able to enjoy cherished time with family and friends also this holiday season. I am so thankful.
Lots of love & hugs,
Jamie :)
