That's right...it's the first day of October :) A day for celebrating Fall and the chilly weather. A month of celebration for us in the form of Birthday's, dressing up and pretending to be whatever you want to be. A month of pumpkin patches, pumpkin carving and pumpkin pie. A month of pure spookiness...
And now that we have some 'older' girls in the house...I'm allowed to decorate a little more spooky and not so much kiddie (if ya know what I'm saying). This is going to be so much fun. Today marks the day that I can officially decorate outside the house without being the 'crazy lady who decorates for Halloween 2 months early,' tee hee. Yes...we LOVE Halloween that much!
And I love that it starts our festive season. Starting in October, we go all out...decorating for fall and Halloween, then adding a little for Thanksgiving, and a bunch for Christmas and we keep our white tree up through February to turn in into a 'Valentine's Tree,' since Valentine's day is our anniversary.
The girls have tried for several years to have the tree up year round and can you believe I've actually toyed with the idea, haha. They want to decorate the tree for EVERY holiday, which I can imagine would be fun. But after having a big tree centering the living room window for 3 1/2 months, I always get the itch to take it down. And last year, our neighbors actually started asking questions about why we still had our Christmas tree up in February, tee hee. Then the girls would explain...'Why it's a Valentines tree of course,' as if that was common & they were the crazy ones for asking ;-)
So, I'll be busy today with decorating and trying to get all spookified for Vanessa's Halloween Fête! And I've got all my jars, labels and magical spells ready to go, so watch out ;-)
What about you? When do you decorate and do you have any odd traditions like our Valentine's tree?
Stay tuned for a spooky Halloween wreath tutorial coming soooooon...
Jamie :)
Oh my gosh! Why didn't anyone tell me October was almost here, I'm so unprepared!
Well, now that it's here I'm with you...It's time to decorate! Yay!
Looking forward to the wreath tutorial.

Oh soul sister-i totally started dragging halloween things out a few weeks ago, totally intending to do a pre halloween party post, but that didnt get done though the decorating did!
Having a houseful of boys, i have been forewarned that halloween is never to be cutesy -though a certain cache of glitter spiders and bats and skelyy girl tags from a certain (Forest Frolic! forest Frolic!) have been deemed "cool" hoorah!

Can't wait to see the photos of all your Halloween decor...I'm sure it will be just grand! I wasn't feeling so well yesterday, and so I didn't get to continue with my decorating - maybe I'll finish it up within the next few days. I'm sure the girls will enjoy watching The Nightmare Before Christmas - that's a wonderful idea. :) We've tinkered with the idea of leaving our Christmas tree up year round, but we do end up taking it down every year. A Valentine's Tree sounds awesome. I'd love to see photos of that as well sometime. :)
Thank you for the birthday wishes, by the way! Sincerely, Theresa
