I don't remember having this much homework when I was in grade-school...
Although, sometimes I don't remember what happened yesterday, tee hee ;)
But, it stinks when some days my daughter can't go to the park after school because she has sooooo much homework :( This isn't every day...but it is more than I'd like.
I hate that she's been in school all day, to come home and have to sit down and do homework until dinner time, then some more after that, which gives her NO FREE TIME!
Kids NEED free time in their day...that's all I'm saying.
Anyone else feel like there is a lot of homework these days?
Jamie :)
I don't have any of my own children, but I've been a nanny and have kids in my life on a daily basis and I think there is waaaay too much homework. They don't have any free time and I think they need that. We can't even go out and do anything fun. After school it's a sport practice or game or music lesson, then they get home and then they are up til midnight doing homework. They've been known to start homework in the car on the way home just to get ahead of the game! I don't remember having that much homework. With some of the kids it depends on the year. 1st grade and 4th grade has homework than the others. Now we have high school kids in the mix. Sometimes a kid needs to be a kid. The world is tough enough.
Good luck and I hope you are able to find a balance.

Hey Jamie! I agree with you! Way too much homework on top of way too much classroom work! I used to teach school & I tried not to have to much sitting in class; it makes children antsy! lol The children need more physical activity between lessons & less homework in the evening. My son goes from school doing busy work to home to busy work...too much writing for him he says! We try to balance it...1 hour homework to 15 or 20 minutes of free time...it depends on how much work he has & when its due...I feel ya on this one sister! lol Good luck for you & your baby girl!

This is one of the reasons I love homeschooling. No homework. They accomplish it all during the day. When the kids were in school they did have nights where they were loaded with homework and I didn't like it either.

All work is "homework" here; we homeschool and have our "necessaries" done by 1pm every day. After that, it's PE, art, nature, you name it.
I tutor high school math, and the workloads are just astounding. What are they actually doing when they are IN SCHOOL? Eight hours and they can't fit it all in? I just don't understand that.

Jamie,
I agree...way too much homework! My daughter always has things to do for homework. She is in Jr. High though and has a study hall so she can do some of it there. She is also in sports everyday, so when she has so much to do, not all of it gets done. I feel that she needs her sleep, so the balance is sometimes hard to find.

Amen! I could not agree more. It's sad that kids can not be kids after school. I would much rather have my son outside and using his imagination than attached to a desk for another hour after he comes home. It's sad enough that kids don't go outside enough at school and run around.
