Remember when I told you about me being a bad girl, and sneaking 'Handmade Marketplace' into my daughter's cabin at camp, and reading until after midnight?
Well, I decided to be a good little business woman, and take it along, on our day trip to Pacific Beach :) And then, this happened...
...and this happened...
...over and over again.
But we had fun! And I declared that everyone needs a little break every now and then anyway ;)
Oh, and here's that pier I was telling you about...
They had these little cottages way out above the ocean and people drove their cars out to park in front of them. I don't know if they're vacation rentals or permanent homes, but they were super neat! Although I think if I lived in one, I'd be a worry wart that I'd fall in while I was sleeping, tee hee.
I've always thought it'd be awesome to live on a boat house or a little beach bungalow, so this is right up my alley. And I wonder too, if it's one of those 'the grass is greener on the other side' things? I love the ocean and the sand between my toes...but would I love it as much if I lived it every day? Would I love it in the cold months? Would I like not having dramatic seasons (because I love my changing seasons ;)
Honestly though, I don't think I could ever get tired of this...
And it may even be enough for me to get over the four seasons.
My hubs and I have talked about moving down to the Florida Keys (but now I'm thinking Cali), to run a bed-and-breakfast once we retire (a loooooong time from now ;) But, I know we'll want to stay near the kids, so that might just be a dream. If they start moving around though...it's on!
Jamie :)
There are no cold winter months here. :)
I love these posts..I feel like I am on vacation too!

Oh, I would LOVE to live in one of those. Though I think I'd need a little more space. I love the ocean. It must be so nice to fall asleep to the sounds of the waves.
I've always wanted to go to Tahiti where they have those huts on stilts right in the ocean. And you can jump right in from your balcony. Aren't those cool? I always wondered why they only have them in the South Pacific.

That's so funny- i was going to say i have always wanted to go to one of those huts on stilts in tahiti-and cinnamon robin up there beat me to it! Only i want the kind where the floor has a peephole and you can look down into the ocean...
Key West eh? When i was growing up (born in Miami) we lived on Lake Surprise in Kay Largo for awhile-i think its all touristy now but back in the day there were pirates LOL
its ok you didnt read-the fun of vacation is doing whatever you want, and not doing what you dont want, all to be decided minute to minute :)

Lovely photos. I actually purchased that book on your recommendation - there's some very good information in it. Have a great weekend, Jamie! Theresa

Funny... we just spent 10 days in So Cal and I was sure it was my next home, but upon pulling up to my house I knew I loved it here more. :)
