Last weekend, we went to visit my family. These deer apparently decided they needed to too (either that or they were trying to figure out how to get into the garden, which was fenced off right beside them)...
As I opened the door to pack the car, these guys were just chillin' in my parents back yard. I think I startled them, because at first they kind of did the 'deer in the headlights' thing (as did I).
Then, when I realized I had my camera bag sitting right by the door to be packed, it was a race to see how fast I could unlatch it, get out the camera, pop off the lens, and 'sneak' onto the back deck before they started taking off (I missed the first one's jump)...
Meanwhile, I'm *whispering* at the top of my lungs to the girls, 'come here, come here, come here.'
And they're off...one...
...two...
This is when I start to feel bad for pulling the ol' paparazzi moves on em'...
...this is also about the time my Mum makes it onto the deck yelling, 'Noooooo, not the garden...get em' outta the garden,' hahaha (sorry Mum, but it was quite hilarious ;)
And as the wee one dodges behind the grapevine, my oldest starts screaming, 'not the road, oh, not the road, *sniffle sniffle*
But, in the end, they all made it out okay, Mum's garden wasn't eaten, and I only had to whack my oldest once to get her to stop freaking out, tee hee. The wee fawn ran up the fence line and eventually joined back up with his crew...
...and they lived happily ever after :)
Jamie :)
p.s. no deer, garden veggies, or children were hurt during the making of this post
p.s.s. if I felt bad for taking pictures of these deer in distress, I couldn't imagine actually trying to snap a picture of a celebrity. how do the paparazzi do it?
THIS IS SO COOL!!!!

Oh wow!! What a sight! They are so beautiful. And I was laughing because I could just see this whole thing playing out in my mind. All the yelling... haha. When our house gets chaotic and loud, that's all I can do, I just start laughing. :)

Wow! Where do your parents live?
PS- The paparazzi make so much money, my guess is that they get over it quickly.

Awww - poor little guy. One of my favorite things is to spot a deer - how fortunate that you saw so many!

Well, now that the world has seen the ugliest area of our property, maybe the daughter will come back and take some prettier pictures! The deer and wild turkeys love us, and occasionally a bear too.
P.S. That ugly little building, where my children once played many moons ago, left here yesterday to make room for my new greenhouse!!!! Maybe you will all see that next year!
