I haven't gotten around to telling you about one of my awesomely fun days in San Diego, but today is the day! This super duper cool chick, Julie, who blogs over at The Land of Lost Luggage, came to my resort, picked me up and showed me around San Diego (thank you again ;).
We had chatted online, but never met in person...so it was really neat to get to meet an 'online friend,' and hit it off. We were having such a good time, that we almost tripled the time we intended to spend touring the city, tee hee.
She took me to 'Old Town,' where I fell in love with these girls...
And even more in love with this paper mache fruit...
Such a funny story behind that. I don't know why I love the things I do, but I couldn't live without that Papaya (second from the left on the bottom). I have no clue what I'd do with it, but it needed to be mine :) So I took one in the market and they wouldn't sell it to me, saying it was a display piece only. I was so sad, so I went back on the last day of our trip to try again, and see if they had any new ones. No luck...so I ended up getting a lime and piece of garlic (which now sit in a jar in my studio and I don't have a plan for them...anyone got any ideas?).
Here we are goofing around in Balboa Park...
...I know the ladies who took this picture, thought we were nuts. It was not an easy task getting in and out of that monster ;)
And I just love the rooftops of some of the homes in San Diego. This was one of the art buildings in the park, that was at the end of this beautiful walkway...
These flowers are amazing, I just love the inside yellow part...looks so funky...
And then there was this lily pond that had all different colored lily's...
(who knew there were bunches of colored lily's?) I always think of purple when I think of a lily.
I don't know what this building is, but the architecture is amazing...
And this lady is...well...I just liked her, tee hee...
Then, Julie took me to 'El Indio' for lunch and made me laugh with her delicious chip smile...
(no really, these chips were sprinkled with Paprika and to-die-for) and the food was deee-licous!
And I loved the paintings on the wall...
Lastly, she took me to this awesome paper crafting store called 'Paper Tales' and we stayed for well over an hour. I was in heaven and so wish we had a store like that over here on the East Coast. Hmmm, maybe I should open one ;)
There was so much that we didn't get to do on our trip, so I'm already trying to plan another one...and this time, we'll take the girls. I just know they'd love it as much as we did.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for your fruit & veggie ;)

Wow - what fun you had! How cool it must have been to finally connect with an "online" friend. :) I am loving those Day of the Dead dolls and those fruits are paper mache? I never would have guessed. Thanks for sharing the great times with your friend. :) Theresa
