I had a little downtime on Sunday and got the urge to make a baby blanket (my girls call them squishys), for the soon-to-be addition to our family.
I'm a big fan of Amy Butler's designs and always have a nice stash of her fabrics laying around, so I chose some of my favorites...
...put them in the order I liked, and sewed them together in a simple stripe pattern...
I added white polka dot minky fabric (soooo soft) to the back and sewed a zig zag stitch around the outside with hot pink thread. Then I added a few ribbon loops on one side and put a ring through it, so I can attach it to the stroller, diaper bag, or whatever...and it won't get lost.
For some reason I didn't take a picture of the whole thing with the ribbons, ring, and minky fabric, but I wanted to share what I had anyway.
Next on my 'what to make the new baby' wish list, is a baby mobile! But I have no clue what, or how, or what materials to use to make it with. I need to do some thinking and searching around for some ideas. Got any for me please? ;)
Jamie :)
That's REALLY cute. Makes me wish I could sew :)

I love the blanket! It's such a simple idea, but the colorful stripes look fabulous!! Plus handmade baby items are the BEST! :):)

Aren't they though Kim!?! This took me just over an hour and I really love the way it turned out too. Next project = big baby blanket!
